Cellular Jail

It was British General Kadal who laid the foundation of this jail in 1879 towards the N-Eastern fringe of the city. This notorious Celluler Jail was was constructed step by sptep between 1896 to 1906 at a cost of Rs 517352. Initially the jail started with 600 political prisoners. Today the number of cells are 296. The British used to despatch revolutionary freedom fighters to Cellular jail between 1858 - 1938. Many prisoners failed to withstand the torture of the British and became martyrs. The names of 336 such martyrs are written on 13 plaques on the 2nd floor wall, of the tower.

Anthropological Museum

Built in 1975-76 is at Phoenix Bay on way to Haddo from Middle Point. Lives of the islanders and natural sciences are displayed in approximately 30 models and photographs. Many handicrafts items are also displayed.

Fisheries Museum

The Fisheries Museum near the Water Sports Complex houses nearly 350 species of marine life, including live coral, sharks, polyps and starfish.

Chantham Saw Mill

Asia's oldest as well as largest Chantham Saw Mill is 2kms from Haddo towards north. Trunks of large trees i.e Bonga are being sawed here. One may visit island shaped Chatham to see various rare tropical trees of island together with paduk, marble and satin trees. To go to Chatham a bridge over a lagoon needs to be crossed.

Naval Marine Museum

Opposite to the Teal House at Delanipur is Naval Marine Museum i.e Samudrika. Along with maritime animals, different varieties of ocean resources more than 350 are displayed here. The collection of corals requires special mention. This museum also provides huge information on the island..

Forest Museum

At Hadoo is Forest Museum situated. Models of birds, animals and decorative wood available in the forests of islands are displayed here.

Gandhi Park

A lovely park located at Port Blair and laced with innumerable facilities like safe water sports, natural trail around the lake, garden, restaurant and historic remains like Japanese Temple as well as a bunker.

Sippighat Agricultural Farm

On way to Wandoor from Port Blair about 15 km away is Sippighat Agricultural Farm with an area of 80 acre. It is an agricultural or horticultural reasearch centre. Coconuts, cloves, cinnamons, blackpeepers, nutmegs and rubbers are being cultivated here.

Mount Harriet

Opposite to Chathan to the north is Mount Harriet. It was formerly the summer residence of British Chief Commissioner. Harriet is renowned for its forest and wonderful natural beauty. An ideal picnic spot, one can have a beautiful view of sunrise, ocean, Port Blair city from the highest point on Mount Harriet (365 m).

Chidiya Tapu

25 kms away from Port Blair ,Chiriya Tapu i.e. the hillocks of birds is at extreme south of South Andaman. Calm and quiet sea beach, narrow lagoons shadded by huge green mangrove forest, chirping birds make it a picturesque picnic spot. Perched on a hill, the Forest guesthouse offers breathtaking views of sunset, deserted islands and submerged corals .

Mini Zoo

It is very near to Samudrika on way to Haddo. Maritime crocodile farm, over 200 species of animals available in islands and birds are available in this Zoo.
